Shepherd won four national events, raced to six victories in eight final rounds, and secured his fourth consecutive Pro Stock championship — the second of three titles he would deliver for the Reher-Morrison powerhouse.

That run capped a two-year stretch of control that reshaped the category. In 1983 and 1984, the team set the standard for preparation, horsepower, and execution.

Shepherd also became the last Pro Stock driver to hold both major titles simultaneously — a benchmark that still defines an era of technical excellence and competitive authority.
